Congaree National Park

December 16, 2018

Congaree National Park had been on my list for a while. When my husband moved to South Carolina for a job it seemed the perfect time to fit in a visit. Unfortunately for us the Congaree River was in flood. Most of the Park was inaccessible. We were able to walk part of the way along the boardwalk before it was lost in the floodwaters.

There was one trail open close to the entrance of the park so we hiked that one. It didn’t have the large trees that Congaree is famous for but it was still a nice walk.

As always the information center was very informative and there was a video about the park that made a very good introduction before exploring.

I am sure we will head back here soon and maybe next time glimpse those old growth trees and marvel at how tall they are.
